YU385599 is a potent small molecule inhibitor of fungal pantothenate kinase (PanK) with Ki of 106 nM (A. fumigatus AfPanK), also inhibits S. cerevisiae Cab1 enzyme with Ki of 170 nM, inhibits the growth of several Candida species.

YU385599 inhibits the growth of yeast strains carrying a wild-type copy of CAB1 but not CAB1G351S-defective variant.

YU385599 inhibits the growth of C. albicans, C. glabrata, and C. parapsilosis, at 149 μg/mL, YU385599 inhibits the growth of both wild-type and efflux-deficient S. cerevisiae strains by 99% in media lacking PA.
