SecinH3 is a selective inhibitor of small GEFs of the cytohesin family, blocks human, mouse and Drosophila cytohesins with IC50 of 2.4 to 5.6 uM.
SecinH3 binds to the Sec7 domain of these small Arf-GEFs but does not bind Sec7 domains of larger Arf-GEFs.
small GEFs prevents cytohesin-dependent insulin signaling in HepG2 cells, produces hepatic insulin resistance in mice.
