P4Q-391 is an antimalarial agent with selective inhibition of the parasite's coenzyme Q cycle, inhibits mitochondrial cytochrome bc1 complex (Cyt bc1).
P4Q-391 displays high selectivity (>10,000-fold) over human Cyt bc1.
P4Q-391 shows great selective activity against all stages of the parasite's life cycle.
P4Q-391 inhibits multidrug resistant malarial strains W2 and TM90-C2B with IC50 of 3.7 and 15 nM, respectively.
P4Q-391 is highly active against exoerythrocytic stages of P. berghei and P. cynomolgi liver schizonts.
