ELQ-300 (ELQ300) is a potent, selective inhibitor of P. falciparummitochondrial cytochrome bc1 complex with IC50 of 0.56 nM.
ELQ-300 is potent in vitro against blood stage P. falciparum strains including a clinical isolate with a mutation in the cytochrome b gene that is associated with atovaquone resistance.
ELQ-300 has high in vitro selectivity for P. falciparum bc1 complex over the human enzyme complex and various mammalian cell types including hematopoietic stem cells.
ELQ-300 does not inhibit human cytochrome bc1 (IC50>10 uM).
ELQ-300 inhibits P. falciparum-infected red blood cells with IC50 of 6 nM.
ELQ-300 is active against liver, blood, and transmission stages of Plasmodium falciparum.
