Cruzipain inhibitor SH-1 is a potent, selective and covalent cysteine protease Cruzipain (CZP) of Trypanosoma cruzi with IC50 of 28 nM, without inhibition on human cathepsin L.
SH-1 forms a reversible covalent bond with Cys25 in CZP.
SH-1 demonstrates bioactivity translation comparable to that of K777 (1–10 μM).
SH-1 shows antitrypanosomal activity (IC50 = 6.67 μM).
