Buparvaquone is a hydroxynaphthoquinone antiprotozoal agent that inhibits cytochrome b (Cyt b), shows significant activity against a range of Apicomplexa parasites, most notably Theileria and Babesia species, also inhibits TaPin1 (T. annulata Peptidyl Prolyl Isomerase Pin1) and blocks parasite transformation.
