Abafungin (BAY-W-6341) is an arylguanidine antifungal compound with potent antifungal activity via inhibiting sterol-C-24 methyltransferase, Abafungin is a potent inhibitor of ergosterol biosynthesis in C. albicans at 0.01-1 mg/L, inhibits specifically the transmethylation of the sterol side chain.
