VP-14637 (MDT-637) is a novel RSV fusion inhibitor with EC50 of 1.4 nM, reduces RSV replication by inhibition of the F-protein function; does not block RSV adsorption but inhibits RSV-induced cell-cell fusion and binds specifically to RSV-infected cells, specifically interacts with the RSV fusion protein expressed by a T7 vaccinia virus system; the F proteins containing the resistance mutations exhibits greatly reduced binding of VP-14637.
