Spindlactone A (SPL-A) is a novel small molecule inhibitor of transforming acidic coiled-coil-containing protein 3 (TACC3) that selectively inhibits the nucleation of centrosome microtubules in ovarian cancer cells.
Spindlactone A binds to and inhibits the function of the TACC3-TOGp complex, induces aberrant spindles in SKOV-3 cells, with no affect for spindle assembly in normal cells.
Spindlactone A selectively induces mitotic arrest in ovarian cancer cells.
