Sipasterol (5α-Androstane-3β,5,6β-triol, 5α-androst-3β,5,6β-triol, Triol) is a synthetic steroid with neuroprotective effect against hypoxia/reoxygenation induced neuronal injuries, through inhibition of AMPK signaling.
Sipasterol (5α-androstane-3β,5,6β-triol, 5α-androst-3β,5,6β-triol) dose-dependently protects cortical neurons from hypoxia/reoxygenation exposure.
Sipasterol (5α-androstane-3β,5,6β-triol, 5α-androst-3β,5,6β-triol) is neuroprotective against hypoxia/reoxygenation induced neuronal injuries through mediation of mitochondrial function and oxidative stress.
Sipasterol (5α-androstane-3β,5,6β-triol, 5α-androst-3β,5,6β-triol) notably decreased the upregulation of VCAM-1, ICAM-1 and attenuated the neutrophil adhesion to rat brain microvascular endothelial cells (RBMECs) stimulated by TNF-α by inhibiting CYLD-NF-κB pathway.
Sipasterol (5α-androstane-3β,5,6β-triol, 5α-androst-3β,5,6β-triol) inhibits TNF-α-induced degradation of IκBα and phosphorylation of NF-κBp65.
