SQ31f is a potent non-tuberculous mycobacteria antibiotic by specifically targeting the mycobacterial F-ATP synthase, inhibits ATP hydrolysis with IC50 of 0.6 uM.
SQ31f blocks ATP synthesis ~10 times more potently than ATP hydrolysis, binds a previously unknown site in the enzyme's proton‐conducting channel.
SQ31f has shown a promising ability to arrest the growth of M. tuberculosis in a mouse model of TB.
