SC-560 is a potent, highly specfiic, orally active cyclooxygenase type 1 (COX-1) inhibitor with IC50 of 9 nM, >500-fold selective over COX-2.
SC-560 inhibited COX-1-derived platelet thromboxane B2, gastric PGE2, and dermal PGE2 production, but not COX-2-derived PGs in the lipopolysaccharide-induced rat air pouch.
SC-560 reduced paw PGs to equivalent levels in rat carrageenan footpad model.
