Ru360 is a cell-permeable mitochondrial calcium uptake (MCU) inhibitor that binds to mitochondria with high affinity (Kd=340 pM) and blocks Ca2+ uptake into mitochondria in vitro with IC50 of 184 pM.
Ru360 inhibits the flow of calcium into mitochondria and prevents the opening of the mitochondrial permeability transition pore,.
Ru360 improves cardiac post-ischaemic functional recovery in rats in vivo.
