Rosuvastatin (ZD-4522) is a potent, competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase (HMGCR) with IC50 of 11 nM.
Rosuvastatin (ZD-4522) potently inhibits cholesterol biosynthesis (IC50=1.12 nM) in rat isolated hepatocytes, 100 times more potent than pravastatin.
Rosuvastatin (ZD-4522) also exerts important anti-inflammatory effects via inhibition of endothelial cell adhesion molecule expression.
