RBI2 (Ribosome biogenesis inhibitor 2) is a small molecule inhibitor of ribosome biogenesis inhibitor, potently inhibits pre-rRNA levels in A375 with IC50 of 169 nM.
RBI2 inhibits cell growth and proliferation in cell viability assays in A375 cells (IC50=680 nM), with limited effect of on the proliferation of our non-cancer cell control, HUVECs.
RBI2 inhibits anchorage independent and clonogenic growth.
RBI2 inhibits rRNA synthesis differently from other previously described ribosome biogenesis inhibitors, potentially acting through a novel pathway that upregulates the turnover of premature rRNAs.
