Pexiganan acetate (MSI-78) is an analog of magainin and orally active antimicrobial peptide with broad-spectrum bactericidal activity, disrupts bacterial cell membranes, induces peptidoglycan damage and cell lysis, has MIC90 of ≤ 32 ug/mL for clinical isolates of gram-positive and gram-negative, anaerobic and aerobic bacteria.
