NecroX-7 (NecX, NecroX 7) is a small molecule necrosis inhibitor by inhibiting high-mobility group box 1 protein (HMGB1) release.
NecroX-7 attenuated the hepatocyte lethality caused by hepatic IR injury in a large animal setting.
NecroX-7 inhibited the HMGB1-induced release of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin (IL)-1β, and macrophage inflammatory protein (MIP)-1β, as well as the expression of p53-upregulated modulator of apoptosis (PUMA) and the excessive inflammatory microenvironment, including nuclear factor-kB (NF-kB) pathways.
NecroX-7 reduces necrotic core formation in atherosclerotic plaques of Apoe knockout mice.
