MIV-711 (MIV711, MV076159) is a potent, selective cathepsin K inhibitor with Ki of 0.98 nM, displays >1300-fold versus the other human cathepsins.
MIV-711 also is a potent inhibitor of dog, guinea pig and rabbit cathepsin K (IC50=1.5/3.3/9.8 nM), but not rat and mouse cathepsin K (IC50=240 and 1000 nM).
MIV-711 shows promise for the treatment of bone and cartilage related disorders in humans such as OA.
