JT71 is a potent, specific small molecule inhibitor of MrkH activity, reduceds transcription of the type 3 fimbriae mrk operon, reduces K. pneumoniae mrkA promoter activity and biofilm formation.
JT71 (50 uM) inhibited MrkH-mediated mrkA promoter activity by approximately 50%.
JT71 inhibits transcription from both the mrkA and mrkH promoters, does not impair bacterial viability.
JT71 (50 uM) reduces type 3 fimbriae production of K. pneumoniae.
JT71 inhibits biofilm formation in other type 3 fimbriated K. pneumoniae and Citrobacter koseri isolates.
JT71 inhibits biofilm formation independently of c-di-GMP abundance.
