IM-54 is a specific oxidative stress-induced necrosis inhibitor, inhibits necrotic cell death induced by H2O2 with IC50 of 0.25 uM in HL-60 cells, does not inhibit apoptosis induced by various anticancer drugs or Fas ligand, or necroptosis.
IM-54 does not show significant inhibitory activities against a panel of 467 kinases.
IM-54 inhibited necrosis induced by oxidative stress (TBHP and H2O2), whereas Z-VAD did not.
IM-54 did not inhibit apoptosis induced by anticancer drugs (actinomycin D, camptothecin, and etoposide) or physiological death ligand (Fas ligand), which was strongly inhibited by Z-VAD in each case.
IM-54 shows therapeutic effect on ischemia-reperfusion injury.
