HTHQ is a potent anti-oxidative agent that effectively scavenges t-butyl peroxyl radicals with IC50 of 0.31 mM (ROS inhibition).
HTHQ exerts chemopreventive effects against heterocyclic amine (HCA)-induced hepatocarcinogenesis.
HTHQ exhibits 4.8-fold higher anti-lipid-peroxidation activity than that of D,L-alpha-tocopherol, scavenges the lipid peroxides Fe3+ -ADP-induced lipid peroxidation in rat liver microsomes.
