HPA-12 is a small molecule inhibitor of ceramide trafficking/ceramide transporter (CERT), inhibits sphingomyelin biosynthesis.
HPA-12 inhibits conversion of ceramide to SM, but not to glucosylceramide, in Chinese hamster ovary cells.
HPA-12 does not inhibit the activity of sphingomyelin (SM) synthase.
