Frovatriptan (SB209509, VML251) succinate hydrate is a potent, long lasting 5-HT(1B/1D) receptor agonist with pK50 of 8.2(5-HT1B).
Frovatriptan exhibits >10-fold selectivity for 5-HT1B and 5-HT1D over 5-HT1A, 5-HT1F, and 5-HT7 and >1000-fold selectivity over other 5-HT, dopamine, histamine H1, and α1-adrenoceptor.
Frovatriptan shows antimigraine activities.
