Factor quinolinone inhibitor 1 (FQI1) is a small molecule inhibitor of transcription factor Late SV40 Factor (LSF), inhibits LSF DNA-binding activity both in vitro and in cells (IC50=2.1 uM).
FQI1 inhibits LSF transactivation in NIH 3T3 LSF-dependent reporter assay, and exhibits cell proliferation inhibition aginst NIH 3T3, HeLa and A549 cell with GI50 of 3.8, 0.79 and 6.3 uM, respectively.
FQI1 induces apoptosis in HCC cells, but not hepatocytes.
FQI1 inhibits HCC tumor growth in mouse xenografts, with no general toxicity.
