Deoxynyboquinone (NSC 165572, DNQ) is a potent inducer of cancer cell death that induces death of cancer cells in culture with IC50 of 16-210 nM, a substrate for NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase (NQO1).
Deoxynyboquinone's lethality relies on NQO1-dependent futile redox cycling that consumes oxygen and generates extensive reactive oxygen species (ROS).
