DMP543 (XR-543) is a potent blocker of voltage-gated potassium channels Kv7 (KCNQ) that enhances ACh release from rat hippocampal slices in vitro with EC50 of 0.7 uM.
DMP543 maintains the 5- to 10-fold potency differential over linopirdine in increasing extracellular hippocampal ACh levels in the rat with a minimum effective dose of 1 mg/kg.
