DDI-4 is a dual activator of nematode membranous organelle fusion (MOF) and mouse acrosome reaction (ASR), triggers exocytotic sperm remodeling not only in worms but also in mice.
DDI-4 activates the ASR and induces IZUMO1 relocation in mouse spermatozoa
DDI-4 activates an exocytotic sperm remodeling pathway distinguishable from canonical Pron- and ProK-mediated pathways
DDI-4 is predicted to target sphingosine kinases (SPHKs)
DDI-4–induced MOF requires the tRNA methyltransferase NSUN-2 and the sphingosine kinase SPHK-1.
