Consomatin Fj1 is a potent and selective somatostatin receptor 4 (SSTR4) peptide agonist with EC50 of 6 nM.
Consomatin Fj1 shows imited activity at SSTR1 (~30 % activation at 1 µM) and no activation of the SSTR2, 3, and 5.
Consomatin Fj1 is a mimetic of the endogenous hormone somatostatin and contains a minimized binding motif that provides stability and drives peptide selectivity.
Consomatin Fj1 induces G protein dissociation at the SSTR4.
Peripheral administration of synthetic consomatin Fj1 provided analgesia in mouse models of postoperative and neuropathic pain.
