Compound 2F52 is a synthetic small-molecule vaccine adjuvant for influenza virus infection, activator of innate immunity via mitochondrial stress pathways, acts independently of known TLRs and PRRs.
2F52 modestly increased mitochondrial reactive oxygen species and induced the aggregation of MAVS (mitochondrial antiviral-signaling protein, does not cause local or systemic toxicity in mice at effective concentrations for vaccination.
2F52 demonstrated protective effects in a murine lethal virus challenge study vaccination with inactivated influenza.
2F52 is a promising candidate for further development as a vaccine adjuvant.
