Clofoctol is an antimicrobial agent via inhibition of the cell wall synthesis, also is an activator of unfolded protein response (UPR) pathways, inhibits prostate cancer cell proliferation.
Clofoctol selectively inhibits the proliferation of glioblastoma stem cells (GSCs).
Clofoctol acts on the RNA‐binding protein Upstream of N‐ras (UNR), stabilizing the interaction with Kruppel‐like factor 13 (KLF13) mRNA.
Clofoctol exhibits multimodal activities, including interactions of the KLF13/UNR, CDC7/DBF4 zinc finger kinase complex, replication and translation processes in the SARS‐CoV‐2 life cycle, and production of inflammatory cytokines.
Clofoctol also inhibits Cdc7 kinase activity, sensitize the effect of platinum compounds and radiation due to synergistic effect.
Clofoctol exerts potent anti-TNBC activity by integrating DNA damage response activation, mitochondrial apoptosis, and cGAS–STING pathway stimulation.
