Citral dimethyl acetal (CDA) is a specific inhibitor of γ-tubulin, specifically inhibits the nuclear activity of γ-tubulin without affecting microtubules dynamics, increases E2F activity without affecting microtubules.
Citral dimethyl acetal prevents GTP binding to γ-tubulin.
Citral dimethyl acetal affects E2F activity without interfering with astral microtubule outgrowth and mitotic progression.
The cytotoxic effect of CDA treatment depends on the functionality of the RB1 signal transduction pathway.
Citral dimethyl acetal inhibits in vivo growth of xenograft tumors carrying defects in the RB1 signaling pathway.
