Carbetocin is an oxytocin (OT) analogue and potent agonist of peripheral oxytocin receptor with Ki of 7 nM.

Carbetocin shows high affinity to chimeric N-terminus (E1) of the oxytocin receptor (Ki=1.17 μM).

Carbetocin shows significant effect of treatment on the percent time spent climbing, swimming and immobile.

Carbetocin is used in obstetrics to control postpartum hemorrhage and bleeding after giving birth, particularly following Cesarean section.
