Benzbromarone (NSC 85433, MJ10061) is a small molecule inhibitor of Eyes Absen (EYA) protein tyrosine phosphatase activity (IC50=8.3 uM, EYA3), exhibits selectivity for EYA over PTP1B.
Benzbromarone is an inhibitor of the urate anion transporter (IC50=0.3 uM for hURAT1) that prevents renal urate resorption.
Benzbromarone also is a small-molecule blocker of TMEM16A-CaCC channels, significantly impairs mucus secretion in primary human airway surface epithelial cells.
Benzbromarone blocks calcium-activated chloride channel (CaCC) TMEM16A with IC50 of 9.97 uM in HEK293 cells.
