BTZO-1 is a cardioprotective agent and Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) activator, binds to MIF with Kd of 68.6 nM, regulates ARE-mediated gene expression.
BTZO-1 activates the GST Ya gene ARE by interacting with MIF.
BTZO-1 induced expression of cytoprotective proteins such as heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) and suppressed oxidative stress-induced cardiomyocyte apoptosis via binding to macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF).
