Ampkinone is a small molecule activator of AMPK, stimulates the phosphorylation of AMPK via indirect activation of AMPK in various cell lines (2.7-fold at 10 uM).
Ampkinone-mediated activation of AMPK requires the activity of LKB1 and results in increased glucose uptake in muscle cells.
Ampkinone significantly reduces total body weight and overall fat mass in DIO mice, effectively improves metabolic abnormalities in the DIO mice model.
