AZD1979 is a potent, selective melanin concentrating hormone receptor 1 (MCH-R1, MCHR1) antagonist with binding Ki of 12.2 nM.
AZD1979 shows no apparent affinity for MCHR2 (Ki>40 uM).
AZD1979 dose-dependently reduces body weight in DIO mice leading to improved homeostasis model assessment-index of insulin sensitivity.
