ARSA-IN-1r (ARSAi) is the first reversible inhibitor of human Arylsulfatase A (ARSA) with SPR KD of 21 uM and IC50 of 13.2 uM.
Compound 1r induced 20% sperm death at 25 μM and also impaired sperm motility mediated by ROS production.
ARSA-IN-1r markedly decreased the in vitro oocyte fertilization by mouse sperm.
ARSA-IN-1r (ARSAi) is a chemical tool that will enable better exploration of ARSA's biological role in fertilization.
